Board Member x 2
Board Member x 2
Two new board member roles for The Torch- a Aboriginal-led arts organisation that provides art & cultural support to First Peoples.
The Torch
is a Victorian-based First Peoples-led not-for-profit organisation tackling the over-incarceration crisis through the transformative power of art, cultural connection, and economic opportunity.
Since 2016, we have generated over $6 million in income for 1,000+ First Nations artists —with 100% going directly to the artists. The Torch takes no commission.
About The Role
As we enter an exciting phase of growth, we are seeking two new Board Members to provide strategic governance and support our mission.
Board Members play a crucial role in guiding The Torch through its next phase of growth and sustainability. You'll work collaboratively with our First Peoples' executive team—Founder/Creative Director Kent Morris (Barkindji), CEO Susannah Day (Martu), Program Manager Sharn Geary (Bundjalung), and Operations Manager Kymbal McGrath (Wiradjuri)—to strengthen our organisational capacity and impact.
As a Board Member, you'll contribute to strategic decision-making, provide governance oversight. Your expertise will support The Torch as we continue delivering culturally safe arts programs to First Peoples with lived experience of incarceration across Victoria, empowering artists to connect with culture, build economic independence, and break the cycle of reoffending.
The Torch maintains a majority First Peoples-led Board, and we strongly encourage Victorian-based First Peoples to apply .
About You
With a deep understanding of First Nations communities, culture and community engagement, potential applicants will be fully committed to understanding The Torch, its mission, programs and impact. You will bring experience in some or all of the following areas:
Work alongside our culturally representative Board, chaired by Benson Saulo (Wemba Wemba), respected Elders Aunty Zeta Thomson (Wurundjeri) and Aunty Pam Pederson (Yorta Yorta), Hon. Lisa Neville, and Christopher Miller.
Support First Peoples artists to reclaim cultural connections, achieve economic independence, and break cycles of reoffending through culturally safe, community-led programs.
