    Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest metropolitan public health services, providing care across more than 50 sites to some of Victoria’s most diverse communities.     We’re seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to take on the pivotal role of Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) . This role will drive the continued development and implementation of our DEI frameworks and initiatives, building a culture where every consumer, carer, family member and employee feels safe, welcome and included.

    About the role
    Reporting to the Executive Director, Allied Health, Strategy, Improvement and Experience , this influential leadership role will:

    • Provide expert advice and leadership in the design, implementation and governance of Eastern Health’s DEI strategy and plans.
    • Build organisational capability and maturity in DEI practice, embedding equity and inclusion across all levels of the organisation.
    • Lead specialist consumer services that support the navigation and experience of patients from diverse backgrounds — including Disability Liaison, NDIS Navigation, Family Violence, Language Services, Spiritual Care, and LGBTQIA+ liaison services.
    • Partner with executives, senior leaders, clinicians and community groups to deliver system-wide cultural transformation and measurable improvements in inclusion, belonging and equitable access to care.
    • Champion and advocate for the needs of culturally, linguistically and socially diverse communities across our service footprint.
    About you
    You are an experienced DEI leader with a track record of driving cultural and organisational transformation in complex, multi-site environments. You bring both vision and practical execution — able to inspire others, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver real, measurable change.
    You will also bring:
    • Tertiary qualifications in diversity and inclusion, organisational development, social sciences, human resources, or public health (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
    • Demonstrated success designing and implementing DEI strategies and frameworks that deliver measurable outcomes.
    • Experience leading teams and services focused on supporting diverse and vulnerable populations.
    • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage executives, staff, consumers, carers and community partners.
    • A deep and authentic commitment to inclusion, equity and belonging.
