A leading International Employment Law Firm based in Melbourne are looking to recruit their first HR Leader in Australia

    The Role

    Reporting to the CPO based in the US and the local Managing Partner, you will lead the HR function for the Australia offices, you will work in a small team with one direct report:

    • Provide expert guidance across the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management and employee development.
    • Collaborate with HR colleagues on firm-wide initiatives such as compensation, benefits, HRIS, leave management and workplace health and safety.
    • Oversee orientation and integration processes for new hires and support ongoing staff and paralegal evaluation and recognition programs.
    • Advise and train managers on coaching, employee development, retention, performance improvement, and disciplinary matters.
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state and local employment laws, and keep up-to-date with industry best practice.
    • Participate in diversity, pro bono, and charitable initiatives, as well as firm-wide project management and employee engagement programs.
    • Collaborate with the Office Administrator on payroll and assist with team event coordination.
    About You

    You will have proven experience in HR management roles, ideally within large or mid-size law firms with multiple offices.

    You bring a strong track record in leading HR operations and driving people initiatives in a professional services environment.

    A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, you excel at building relationships, influencing at all levels, and implementing best practice HR solutions.

    You have strong knowledge of Australian employment law, HRIS systems (such as Workday), and contemporary HR strategies.
    A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related fields is required; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
