Learning Design & Development Specialist

Design meaningful, performance-led learning solutions in a growing L&D team. Blend strategy, creativity and co-design.

  • Join a new team with a business investing in contemporary capability solutions
  • Translate business needs into fit-for-purpose, human-centred learning design
  • Salary circa $140k (incl super)

  • The  Learning Design & Development Specialist  is a new opportunity within a purpose-driven organisation undergoing a significant uplift in its learning and capability function. This role sits within a large, multi-disciplinary learning team responsible for shaping the next generation of learning experiences for their dispersed, national workforce.

More than just instructional design, you’ll bring a performance consulting mindset to uncover root causes, ask the right questions, and partner closely with the business to co-design content and delivery that aligns with the organisation's new learning and capability objectives. You'll be hands-on in crafting contemporary, immersive learning experiences using a range of methods.

    About the role

    • Apply performance consulting and needs analysis to uncover true learning needs and business priorities.
    • Design learning solutions using frameworks informed by human-centred design.
    • Blend modalities to deliver learning in the flow of work (e.g. podcasts, simulations, spaced learning).
    • Design supporting evaluation models and gather data to demonstrate learning effectiveness and impact.
    • Manage learning projects end-to-end, with clear scope, timelines, stakeholder engagement, and communication.
    • Work closely with internal teams and subject matter experts across multiple workforce segments and operational areas.
You’ll be part of a learning team that’s maturing its strategy, embracing innovation, and focused on building capability in a meaningful way. The right person for this role is equal parts learning designer, performance partner, and project lead - someone who thrives in complexity and genuinely cares about delivering value.

    About you
    • Comfortable conducting nuanced learning needs analysis, not just content requests.
    • Skilled in designing for diverse audiences and across learning environments.
    • Familiar with authoring tools and technologies and can also demonstrate confidence in exploring new platforms like AI, VR, and simulation.
    • Strong project discipline with a track record of delivering initiatives on time and with measurable impact.
This is hybrid working arrangement based in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
