  • An organisation operating across Australia and New Zealand is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to independently manage end‑to‑end payroll operations within a complex, regulated environment that is supporting critical infrastructure and growing rapidly. 

    This role is responsible for the end‑to‑end processing of fortnightly payroll across Australia and New Zealand and requires a high level of independence, judgement and problem‑solving capability. Working with a newly implemented Dayforce platform, you will manage BAU activities with on-going system optimisations and own the relationship with Dayforce providers.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Independently process accurate and compliant fortnightly payroll for employees across Australia and New Zealand.
    • Own payroll operations as a standalone role, including issue identification, resolution and decision‑making.
    • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve payroll and system issues within Dayforce, including logging, managing and escalating support tickets.
    • Address configuration and processing issues that were not identified during system implementation and user testing.
    • Work proactively with Dayforce support to drive timely resolution of issues.
    • Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations and statutory reporting obligations.
    • Support transition arrangements if an interim managed payroll solution is utilised, including learning processes and returning payroll fully in‑house.
    • Collaborate with People and Finance stakeholders while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.
    Requirements
      • Minimum 3 years’ experience in payroll, ideally across Australia and New Zealand.
      • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory compliance obligations in both jurisdictions.
      • Experience with Dayforce payroll systems (highly regarded).
      • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline and data accuracy.
      • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, with the ability to obtain relevant security clearance. Please note overseas applicants will not be considered.
      • An assertive, pragmatic working style with the confidence to escalate issues and drive outcomes.
      • Comfortable operating in an environment undergoing system clean‑up and process improvement.
