  • The role

    This position guides and delivers organisation wide compensation strategies, working in partnership with HR and business leaders to design, implement and manage fair, competitive pay programmes. The remit includes base, variable and incentive pay, annual cycles, compliance, pay benchmarking and gender pay gap analysis ensuring frameworks reflect current market trends, equity goals and legislative obligations. Leadership responsibilities include managing a high-performing team and supporting executive and board reporting, knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives.

    Key responsibilities

    • Shape and execute compensation strategy and frameworks in collaboration with HR, finance, payroll and business leaders.
    • Provide authoritative advice on variable pay, incentive plans and annual pay cycles.
    • Lead WGEA compliance and gender pay gap reporting, developing equity strategies aligned with best practice.
    • Conduct benchmarking, market insights and global initiative participation.
    • Monitor legislative and award compliance across pay practices.
    • Lead, mentor and develop a team of compensation professionals, promoting simplification and transparency.
    • Contribute insights and materials for executive leadership and board decision-making.
    • Support regional and enterprise-wide benefits programmes and process improvements.
    About you

    Success in this role requires at least seven years’ experience in compensation, HR, or rewards, with advanced analytical skills (Excel and HRIS systems).
    A thorough understanding of Australian employment and remuneration practices is essential, along with demonstrated experience in gender pay gap analysis, pay equity strategy and WGEA reporting. Strong interpersonal skills, credibility with senior stakeholders, and proven ability to operate within a matrixed, global environment are key. Ideal candidates balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational capability in driving effective, compliant compensation outcomes.
