HR Business Partner in critical utilities organisation. First HRBP in Victoria.
  • Partner with Group Operations Director to build HR presence in Vic
  • End-to-End HR Business Partnering Role (no recruitment req'd)
  • CBD office - travel to sites in West Melbourne suburbs.
  • We are partnering with a rapidly growing, founder‑led organisation operating essential, always‑on infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand. With a strong presence in Melbourne and ambitious growth plans over the next five years, the business is creating its first senior HR Business Partner role in Victoria.

    This is a true end‑to‑end business partnering role, working closely with a senior operations leader responsible for multiple operational sites in West Melbourne, whilst retaining a CBD Head office also. You will be deeply embedded in the business, balancing strategic influence with hands‑on execution.

    The Role
    • Be the primary point of contact for all people matters in Victoria and act as strategic partner for HR to the Group Head of Operations.
    • Coach and develop leaders, particularly around performance, accountability, difficult conversations and any blockers to productivity.
    • Implement the core values of the business, acting as conduit between the group HR function and the Victorian entities, acknowledging and driving the core values of the business with an allowance for local nuances. ( please note the entire company is Australian, so you won't be dealing with international HO).
      Lead, design and delivery of employee experience and employee engagement projects.
    • Support on complex ER matters when required.
    • Be visible on site and roll your sleeves up when required, be that to build relationships across the business or to ensure a programme is delivered.
    • This is a fast-paced environment that is scaling rapidly. The role needs to adjust accordingly, so you need to be comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy the challenges that fast evolution brings to an HR role.

    Your Profile
    • Strong experience as a HRBP or people advisory role, partnering closely with senior operational leaders.
    • Background in a high‑growth, fast‑scaling organisation where decisions move quickly is preferred.
    • Recognisable experience as business partner to both white and blue collar workforces. 
    • Demonstrated strength in leadership coaching and influencing.
    • Sound employee relations capability and confidence handling complex performance and conduct matters
    • High personal credibility, strong judgement and the ability to earn trust quickly
    • A genuine care factor, this is not a clock-in 9-5 role. Your time will be respected but you're delivering a high performance culture, so that will need to start with you.
    • Comfort being hands‑on and embedded in the business rather than operating at arm’s length
    Location:  CBD Head Office with travel to sites in Inner-Western suburbs weekly. Occasional interstate travel (unlikely to be consistent or overnight). 

    Legal Requirements:
    Australian Citizenship is required and you will be required to obtain HIGH LEVEL SECURITY CLEARANCE, 
    due to the company's customer profile.
