The Opportunity
Reporting to the National Manager – Advisory Services, this role sits within a specialist Advisory Services team that partners closely with People & Culture Business Partners and senior leaders across the business.
This is a highly consultative, risk-focused role supporting complex and escalated workplace relations matters. Success in this position is measured by the quality of advice provided, effective risk mitigation, sound judgement, and the ability to influence outcomes in fast-paced and sensitive environments.
The Role
As the Specialist – Advisory Services, you will provide expert workplace relations and employee relations advice to Line Managers across the business. You will manage complex casework, conduct investigations, and represent the organisation in the early stages of employment-related litigation.
This role is well suited to an experienced Employee Relations/Workplace Relations professional who enjoys depth, complexity, and stakeholder engagement, and who can balance commercial outcomes with legislative compliance.

The Role
As the Specialist – Advisory Services, you will provide expert workplace relations and employee relations advice to Line Managers across the business. You will manage complex casework, conduct investigations, and represent the organisation in the early stages of employment-related litigation.
This role is well suited to an experienced Employee Relations/Workplace Relations professional who enjoys depth, complexity, and stakeholder engagement, and who can balance commercial outcomes with legislative compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist advice on escalated workplace relations matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination, bullying, harassment, misconduct and performance management
• Assessing workplace relations risk and exposure and providing clear, pragmatic recommendations to inform business decision-making
• Conducting workplace investigations and preparing detailed investigation reports
• Supporting managers with complex long-term illness and injury cases
• Assisting Line Managers to proactively address and resolve employee relations issues
• Negotiating settlement outcomes, managed exits and dispute resolutions
• Representing the organisation up to conciliation stage in employment tribunals, including the Fair Work Commission, Fair Work Ombudsman, AHRC and relevant state-based Equal Opportunity Commissions
• Preparing, filing and serving all required documentation for tribunal matters
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, unions and external regulatory bodies
• Developing workplace relations capability through coaching, guidance and learning sessions
• Identifying trends and emerging risks and providing insights and solutions to support continuous improvement
About You
This role will suit someone who is confident operating at a specialist level and comfortable managing ambiguity, complexity and competing priorities.
You will likely bring:
- A minimum of 4 years’ specialist Workplace Relations or Employee Relations experience
• Extensive experience managing performance, conduct, behavioural and Equal Opportunity matters
• Proven experience conducting workplace investigations
• Experience supporting long-term ill or injured employees
• Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and the ability to interpret and apply it pragmatically
• Experience representing organisations in conciliation conferences and employment tribunals
• Advanced negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to deliver timely, accurate advice in a fast-paced, high-risk environment
• High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Law or a related discipline are required
