We're partnering with a well-established, operationally complex organisation to appoint an experienced L&D Leader
  • Port Melbourne location
  • This is a newly shaped role with genuine scope to influence. Reporting into a senior HR leader, you’ll take ownership of the organisation wide learning strategy,  building capability across corporate, frontline, and leadership populations, while lifting performance, safety, and overall employee experience.
This role will suit someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution while setting direction while remaining close to the detail.

    The opportunity

You’ll play a key role in shaping how learning supports business performance, working closely with leaders across both onshore and operational environments.

    Key focus areas include:
    • Designing and embedding a clear, practical L&D strategy aligned to business priorities
    • Partnering with senior HR leadership to strengthen capability and build a genuine learning culture
    • Leading operational and technical training initiatives with a strong safety and compliance lens
    • Developing leadership capability across frontline and corporate populations

    • Introducing modern learning approaches (digital, blended, and bite-sized learning)
    • Building competency frameworks and ensuring robust training governance
    • Partnering with operational leaders to identify capability gaps and deliver targeted solutions
    • Measuring and strengthening the impact of learning programs over time
    About you

You’re an experienced L&D leader who is comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational environment.

    You’ll bring:
    • Proven experience designing and delivering end-to-end L&D strategies
    • Strength in both leadership development and technical / operational training
    • A practical, commercial mindset, able to connect learning to business outcomes
    • Confidence working with senior leaders, alongside frontline teams
    • Experience building programs from the ground up, rather than maintaining established frameworks
    • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
Experience within logistics, transport, industrial, or safety-critical environments will be highly regarded, but not essential.  Please note, this is an operational environment with a frontline workforce and there is a reasonable expectation to be on site in Port Melbourne at least four days per week.

    Why this role?
    • Genuine opportunity to shape learning in a business where capability uplift is a priority
    • Broad scope across corporate, operational, and frontline teams
    • High visibility role with strong executive engagement
