    About the Role:

    Reporting to the Head of HR Advisory, this senior ER/IR specialist role provides expert employee relations and industrial relations advice, and ER case management, across a large and diverse workforce.

    This is a hands on role suited to an experienced practitioner who enjoys managing complex and sensitive workplace matters while partnering closely with the broader HR team and front line leaders to achieve practical and commercially sound outcomes.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Managing complex employee relations and industrial relations matters from initial assessment through to resolution.
    • Conducting and overseeing investigations, grievances, misconduct matters, disciplinary processes and performance management cases.
    • Providing expert advice on employment legislation, enterprise agreements, awards and organisational policies.
    • Supporting leaders and HR Business Partners through workplace disputes, escalated employee concerns and high risk people matters.
    • Preparing detailed correspondence, reports, submissions and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Representing the organisation in Fair Work Commission proceedings and other employment related forums where required.
    • Coaching and developing leaders to build confidence and capability in managing people matters.
    • Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of ER and IR frameworks, processes, tools and governance practices.
    • Providing informal leadership, guidance and mentoring to less experienced HR professionals within the team.

    About You:

    You are an experienced ER and IR specialist, or HR generalist with extensive ER/IR background, who thrives in complex environments and brings a balanced combination of technical expertise, stakeholder influence and practical problem solving capability.

    You will be comfortable operating autonomously, managing competing priorities and navigating sensitive situations with professionalism, resilience and sound judgement.

    To be successful you will bring:
    • Experience managing complex ER and IR matters within a large, complex, Australian organisations.
    • Proven experience across investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, performance management, dispute resolution and workplace complaints.
    • Strong exposure to Fair Work Commission matters and employment related proceedings.
    • Detailed knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, enterprise agreements and Australian employment legislation.
    • Exceptional written communication skills with experience preparing detailed reports, correspondence and formal documentation.
    • Strong stakeholder management capability with the ability to influence and coach senior leaders.
    • Experience working within HR case management or HR information systems.
    • High levels of integrity, discretion, resilience and professional judgement.
    • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
