This is a senior IR/ER leadership role for someone who knows how to operate at scale and isn’t afraid of complexity.
A large, unionised organisation is looking for a Senior Manager, Industrial & Employee Relations to lead its national IR/ER agenda. You’ll work closely with the Executive, General Counsel and HR leadership team, providing clear, confident advice on high‑risk matters and shaping IR/ER strategy across the business.
This role suits someone who enjoys being trusted, listened to and relied upon, not just brought in when things go wrong.

- Leading enterprise bargaining across multiple agreements and unions
- Advising senior leaders on complex IR/ER issues, risk and workforce strategy
- Managing disputes, industrial action and litigation risk with confidence and credibility
- Building strong, pragmatic relationships with unions, regulators and external stakeholders
- Leading and developing a specialist IR/ER team
- Strengthening governance, compliance and leader capability across the organisation
You’re a seasoned IR/ER professional who brings calm, clarity and strong judgement.
You’ll likely bring:
- Significant experience in senior IR/ER roles within complex, unionised environments
- A proven track record leading enterprise bargaining across multiple EBAs
- Deep working knowledge of Australian employment law and the Fair Work system
- Confidence operating at Executive level, with the credibility to influence outcomes
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Law, Industrial Relations or similar
- Legal training or admission (highly regarded, but not essential)
