  • Full job description
This opportunity sits within the OHSQE function of a specialist transport and logistics business operating in a highly regulated, high-risk environment. Supporting multiple sites across Victoria and occasionally interstate, this role blends hands-on safety delivery with broader coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Stepping into a business following a recent re-licensing with WorkSafe, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting day-to-day operations, and continuing to embed strong safety practices across the network.

Reporting to the GM – OHSQE, you will operate as a trusted safety partner to operational leaders, working closely with supervisors, managers and frontline teams. The role requires someone confident working autonomously, engaging with regulators, and managing competing priorities across a complex operational footprint.

This is an opportunity suited to an experienced OHS professional stepping beyond a traditional Coordinator role, with the capability to operate at a more senior level while remaining hands-on.

    Key responsibilities
    • Lead and support audits, site inspections and compliance activities across multiple facilities
    • Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
    • Partner with operational leaders to provide practical safety advice and ensure alignment with legislative and company requirements
    • Engage with regulators (including WorkSafe) on reporting, audits and investigations
    • Monitor compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations, NHVR, EPA and MHF licence requirements
    • Support and improve the Business Management System (BMS) and broader safety management systems
    • Coordinate documentation, compliance registers and incident reporting systems
    • Contribute to risk assessments, hazard identification and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Support Return to Work processes and broader safety and wellbeing initiatives
    • Build strong relationships across operations, contributing to a “Zero Harm” safety culture
    About you
    • Proven experience in OHS within transport, logistics or a comparable high-risk industry
    • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capability
    • Comfortable engaging with regulators and managing compliance obligations
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships with operational stakeholders
    • Experience working with safety management systems and audit frameworks
    • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, National Heavy Vehicle legislation and regulatory frameworks
    • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
    • Exposure to Major Hazard Facilities (MHF) or similar environments is advantageous
    • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
