ER/ IR Specialist, 6 month contract
ER/ IR Specialist, 6 month contract
Shape enterprise bargaining strategy and solve complex workplace relations matters in a highly visible specialist contract.
About the Organisation:
Our client is a respected, purpose-led national organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated environment. With a strong commitment to its people and the communities it serves, the organisation is entering an important period of workforce planning, consultation and industrial relations activity. Its collaborative People and Culture function partners closely with leaders to balance commercial priorities, employee experience and sound workplace relations outcomes.
About the Role:
This 6-month contract will provide dedicated employee relations and industrial relations expertise during a period of long service leave coverage. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s enterprise bargaining roadmap while providing practical, commercially considered advice across complex workplace matters.
You will contribute to enterprise bargaining preparation and negotiation, develop bargaining strategies and workforce consultation plans, and support the creation of fit-for-purpose industrial relations frameworks. The role will also undertake enterprise agreement interpretation, harmonisation planning, cost modelling, scenario analysis and workforce impact assessments.
Working closely with executives, leaders, employees and union representatives, you will independently manage complex industrial relations matters and support organisational change and consultation processes. You will also provide practical guidance on performance management and disciplinary matters where required, while partnering with senior stakeholders on broader workforce decisions.
This is an individual contributor position offering significant visibility, autonomy and influence. It will suit an experienced specialist who can move confidently between strategic planning, detailed analysis and hands-on delivery.
About You:
You are an accomplished Employee Relations and Industrial Relations professional with at least 5 years of relevant experience spanning strategy, implementation and operational advice. You bring demonstrated enterprise bargaining exposure and understand the preparation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement required to deliver effective workplace outcomes.
You have a strong working knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements, Fair Work legislation and other industrial instruments. Your experience may include agreement interpretation, harmonisation, workforce transition, consultation planning, industrial relations framework development and bargaining-related cost modelling.
Commercially astute and solutions-focused, you can assess risk, interpret complex information and translate it into clear, practical advice for leaders. You communicate with credibility across executive, management, employee and union stakeholder groups and are comfortable independently managing sensitive or complex matters.
Experience within a regulated, unionised environment will be highly regarded.
Additional Requirements/Benefits:
This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible specialist contract and make an immediate contribution during an important period of enterprise bargaining and workforce planning. You will have the autonomy to apply deep industrial relations expertise while influencing strategy, supporting senior leaders and helping shape sustainable workplace relations outcomes.
The role offers a compelling balance of strategic work and practical delivery, supported by flexible working arrangements and access to senior stakeholders. It will appeal to an experienced specialist seeking purposeful, complex work and the opportunity to leave a tangible legacy within a respected national organisation.
