    Opportunity for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a global organisation within the rail transport manufacturing industry on a 12-month fixed term contract.

    Supporting a site in Ballarat, this role serves as the primary HR presence on site and partners closely with operational and senior leaders to deliver a broad range of people initiatives and day-to-day HR support.

    This is a true generalist opportunity where you will play a key role in supporting leaders through employee relations matters, industrial relations activity, workforce planning, change initiatives and performance management, while helping continue the site's people and leadership capability journey.

    Key r esponsibilities
    • Act as the primary HR contact for a large operational site, providing trusted advice and support across the full employee lifecycle.
    • Partner with leaders to deliver generalist HR support including performance management, employee relations, workforce planning and organisational effectiveness initiatives.
    • Coach and support managers through performance improvement, disciplinary matters and complex people challenges.
    • Support the resolution of industrial and employee relations matters and maintain effective relationships within a unionised environment.
    • Provide guidance on employment legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, contracts, policies and workplace obligations.
    • Support organisational change initiatives and HR projects with a strong people and IR focus.
    • Lead key annual people processes including performance reviews, remuneration reviews, succession planning and objective setting.
    • Deliver governance and workplace behaviour education to managers and leaders, including Respect at Work initiatives.
    • Support site communication and leadership capability programs to improve engagement and accountability.
    • Utilise people data and reporting to provide insights and support decision-making.
    • Contribute to the ongoing maturity and adoption of manager self-service practices and HR systems.
    About you
    • Located in Ballarat or surrounding areas, able to work on-site and available immediately.
    • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
    • Approximately 5-10 years' experience in a generalist HR Business Partner or HR Manager role.
    • Experience working within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, construction, utilities or other operational environments.
    • Exposure to enterprise agreements, industrial relations, employee relations and union engagement.
    • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Experience working within a complex or matrix organisational structure.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide commercially balanced HR advice.
    • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to spend time on the floor building relationships and understanding the business.
