Hands-on HR role supporting construction teams across employee relations, workforce planning and full employee lifecycle.

  • We are partnering with a leading infrastructure organisation delivering a major transport project that will significantly improve connectivity across Melbourne’s north-east. This large-scale project is focused on reducing congestion and supporting long-term growth across the region.

    The opportunity

    This is a hands-on, site-based HR role working closely with construction leaders and operational stakeholders. You will partner with project managers, directors and supervisors to deliver end-to-end HR support across the full employee lifecycle.

    A key focus of this role will be supporting the demobilisation of a large workforce as project packages come to completion — offering unique exposure to a complex and highly visible workforce transition.

    Key responsibilities
    • Partner with construction leaders, including project managers and site leadership, to provide day-to-day HR support
    • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, movement, performance matters and grievances
    • Support workforce planning aligned to project delivery timelines
    • Provide employee relations advice and manage workplace issues and investigations
    • Deliver HR initiatives across culture, engagement and project-based programs
    • Lead and support a large-scale workforce demobilisation process, including consultation and process management
    About the team
    • Reporting to the HR Manager within a small, collaborative HR function
    • Working alongside HR Advisors, Coordinators and a separate resourcing team
    • Close interaction with site-based construction teams and senior stakeholders
    About you

    You will bring strong, hands-on HR experience gained within blue-collar or operational environments such as construction, manufacturing, utilities, mining or oil & gas.

    You will also demonstrate:
    • Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, site-based environment
    • Solid experience across employee relations and workforce planning
    • Exposure to, or direct experience in, workforce demobilisation / redundancies
    • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously
