This 12-month contract sits within a well-established People & Culture Business Partnering team supporting a critical, large-scale business unit. The P&C function plays a key role in delivering people and culture solutions that enable business performance, with a strong focus on leadership effectiveness, organisational capability, and operational excellence.
In this role, you will partner directly with the Director of National Operations & Network Delivery, acting as a trusted advisor across a complex and geographically dispersed workforce. You will support a broad remit spanning organisational design, workforce planning, leadership capability, and the delivery of key people initiatives aligned to business priorities.
A significant component of the role is hands-on employee relations support. You will lead complex casework, including investigations, performance management, and grievances, while providing pragmatic, balanced advice in a high-volume operational environment. You will also play a key role in supporting organisational initiatives such as performance frameworks, enterprise agreement considerations, and capability uplift programs.
Success in this role will be defined by your ability to quickly build credibility and establish yourself as a go-to advisor. You will bring curiosity, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate ambiguity—enabling senior leaders to make informed, people-focused decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR Business Partner to a senior operational leader and their leadership team
- Provide strategic advice across organisational design, workforce planning, and leadership capability
- Lead and manage complex employee relations matters end-to-end, including investigations and performance management
- Support high-volume operational teams through workforce challenges and risk mitigation
- Contribute to key people initiatives, including performance frameworks, learning models, and capability uplift
- Provide input into enterprise agreement considerations, ensuring alignment with operational needs
- Drive leadership effectiveness, team performance, and engagement outcomes
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and operate as a trusted and proactive advisor
You are an experienced HR Business Partner who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments and brings strong depth in employee relations. You are comfortable balancing strategic priorities with hands-on delivery and enjoy partnering with senior leaders to drive outcomes.
You will bring:
- Proven HR Business Partner experience supporting large or operationally complex workforces
- Strong employee relations capability, with experience managing complex and sensitive casework
- Experience partnering with senior stakeholders in fast-paced environments
- Capability across organisational design, change, and workforce planning
- A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach with strong commercial judgement
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust quickly
